Hi I’m Dr. Song
Why School of Big Fish?
A former international student & college professor
Now, the founder of School of Big fish & Your career navigator
I left my position after nine years to start the school I’ve always dreamed of creating.
Introducing the School of Big Fish, where I help Korean international and immigrant students REDEFINE the traditional Korean aspiration of "Go to big water to become big fish" on THEIR OWN TERMS.
At the School of Big Fish, I guide Korean students in the U.S. as they explore what kind of “Big Water” they wish to thrive in and what version of “Big Fish” they want to become—not what their parents, Korean society, or U.S. society expects of them. With this newfound clarity, I further assist them in landing their first dream job that aligns with the lives they want to live—not someone else’s vision for them.
And there's more. I dream big myself. The School of Big Fish offers guidance and support as students grow, including (but not limited to) personal finance for young adults, workplace communication skills, salary negotiation, promotion, career transitions, and work-life balance. Ultimately, my vision is to create a community of young Koreans in the U.S. who grow big, pursue their greatest happiness and share it with others in their unique ways.
I’ve seen too many smart, hardworking, and ambitious Korean students lose their direction, mostly because they lack the guidance needed to navigate young adulthood. As a result, they settle for unfulfilling jobs simply because they pay the bills and sponsor work visas. The transition from school to work, or more broadly, from youth to adulthood, is challenging for everyone. However, international and immigrant students face unique financial, physical, and psychological challenges that must be addressed. Korean students deserve the guidance they need.
This is my vision. This is why I founded the School of Big Fish.
If you know anyone who could benefit from my school, please share this with them.
